Spotlight Dance Cup Results

Hello all,

Everyone did a great job at Spotlight Dance Cup, and you can view all the results here. We had a LOT of diamond awards, the best you can get, and we are VERY proud of everyone.

I wanted to post some highlights, but there were SO MANY awards that I didn't want to make anyone feel bad. So you can click on the link to see them all in their entirety, except I DID want to mention this one.

Our own teacher and choreographer Autumn Roberts won the choreography award in three solo categories: Petite, Teen, and Junior.

Of course, that was with the help of dancers Megan Johansen (Petite); Hailee Payne (Teen); and Kristing Yu (Junior).

Way to go Autumn and girls!

Spotlight Dance Cup and other updates

SPOTLIGHT DANCE CUP

This weekend is Spotlight Dance Cup. Competing at this competition are: All Companies, Prep Teams, and Ballroom.

ADDRESS: Viewmont High School is located at:

120 W 1000 N., Bountiful.

It is very easy to get to. Just take the 500 West exit off I-15, and take the first left hand turn, onto 1000 North, and follow it up east until you see the school. The street curves north before it heads back east, but just stay on it and you will drive right to the school.

Just a reminder—there will be NO Company classes on Thursday, March 26, as many of the girls are competing at Spotlight Dance Cup, with the exception of the ones noted below. There WILL be the following classes.

Junior Company and Jr. Prep Hip Hop--4:00

5&6 year olds—4:00 p.m.

Junior Company 2 Rehearsal—5:00 p.m.

Jr. Prep Ballet—5:00 p.m.

7&8 year olds—5:00 p.m.

Teen Company 2 and Junior Company 2, ballet—6:00 p.m.

Jr. Prep Rehearsal—6:00 p.m.

Senior Squad—7:00 p.m.

Mini Prep Ballet—7:00 p.m.

Please bear with us as we might have to move these classes around a little to accommodate our competition schedule, but there will be a class for your daughter to take.

ACCESSORIES AND LIPSTICK KITS

Robin will be bringing the lipstick kits and accessories to the dance competition Saturday, for the girls who do not have them yet. Unfortunately, the shipment will not arrive until tomorrow so this is the only way we can do it.

DANCE SPECTACULAR

Just a reminder, Squads will be competing at Dance Spectacular on April 25, along with Companies, Prep Teams, and Ballroom. Make sure this date is on your calendar. We will get the schedule out as soon as we get it. Dance Spectacular is at Roy High School, 2150 W 4800 S.

HONOR ROLL

I have received quite a few dancers for the honor roll, including some elementary-aged girls. Even though most elementaries do not have an official honor roll, if your child has straight As, please feel free to send your dancer's name, grade, and school. Send it to: natalie@infinitydance.org.

Please arrive by 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets available at the door for $5 or $20 per family, this is a fundraiser for the Brigham City Meals on Wheels program. Hailee Payne won the Icon award in the Producers Category!

There IS dance tomorrow night

Hello all,
Just wanted to confirm that there WILL be dance tomorrow night. We are getting ready to compete at Spotlight Dance Cup, and our rehearsal time is very necessary.

We realize that some schools are out for a teacher prep day, but there WILL be regular mandatory classes.

Important Note about Ogden Studio

The Ogden Studio will be closed to any practices (including solos) on Sundays from 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. for cleaning. Please make a note of this and do not try to schedule time during these hours, as it is very difficult to do a thorough cleaning with people in the studio.

Amber's Classes

From Amber Williams:
Attention Ogden Mini Company, Tiny Company & Jr. Prep,

On Thursday, March 19 there will be no classes. Due to me winning Overall Solo at Dance for Life, I get to perform at “Shut Up and Dance.” We will be having a MANDATORY make-up rehearsal on Saturday, March 21. Jr. Prep will be from 9:00 to 11:00 and everybody at 11:00 to 1:00. Sorry for the inconvenience, but they need to be ready for Spotlight. You’re welcome to come to the show at 8:00 p.m. at Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake! Also due to Spotlight next Thursday, Brie will be teaching for me so I can be with my soloist. I appreciate your understanding!

Shut Up and Dance Featuring Infinity Dancers!!

We're so excited that Dawson Shaw and Cazley Nay, doing a duo, and Amber Williams, doing her jazz solo, were chosen high point winners at last weekend's Dance for Life!

They will be performing this Thursday at Odyssey Dance Theatre's Shut Up and Dance!

We would like to get group tickets, so please call the office if you would like to participate. Let's show our support for Infinity's incredible dancers!

Important Updates

Hello all,

Apparently there was a gap in the communications, and a physical note did not go home to ballroom parents about our competition schedule change. We apologize for this omission. We are NOT doing Dance for Life as a team, but ARE doing Spotlight Dance Cup March 26, 27, & 28 (Company, Company 2, Prep Teams, Ballroom); Dance Spectacular, April 24 & 25 (Company, Company 2, Prep Teams, Ballroom, Squads); and Thunderstruck, May 1 & 2 (Company, Company 2, Prep Teams, Ballroom).

We would like to emphasize the necessity of reading the Web site regularly. I can't tell you how many people have said how much they love having this available 24/7, whenever you have time to check things after a busy day.

Also, please note, SQUADS are competing at Dance Spectacular.

Reminder!

Please remember that tuition is due by the 10th of each month and a $15 late charge will be added if tuition is past due. Also, Thunderstruck fees are due by March 25.

In the news....

A few of our Infinity Dancers attended the workshop last week put on by Utah Dance Championships, and featuring Twitch, Gev and Katie from So You Think You Can Dance. If you go to Fox 13 news, click on their search link, and type in SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, you will see the link to the So You Think You Can Dance Workshop.

Robin Klein and Andria Johnson, from Brigham City's Junior Company, are shown in several shots. Also attending were Mykklyn Stanzione and Hailee Payne, and we hear they did a great job!

Dance for Life and Spotlight Schedules

The Dance for Life (Solos only) schedule for this weekend March 13, and the Spotlight Dance Cup schedule (March 26, 27 and 28) are now available on the Web site.

Participant and Spectator Guidelines

Please carefully read the Participant and Spectator Guidelines for Spotlight Cup. You CANNOT videotape here, as they have Propix doing it. You also cannot take pictures. They are very strict and will ask you to leave the auditorium Also, if you are performing at 2:30 on Thursday or Friday, please COME READY. There will not be a dressing room as available as school is still in session at that time.

Also, please note there is NO food allowed in the dressing rooms or the auditoriums. And PLEASE clean up after yourself!

No Saturday Geeks Practice

All the Geeks at our studio will have the night off as there will be NO Saturday evening practice from 7 to 9 p.m.

In addition, there will NOT be an all day practice on Saturday, March 21, from 9 to 5.

Attention Ballroom Students

To get tickets to the National Ballroom Championships at BYU the weekend of March 12-14, 2009, there are a couple of different ways to do it. You can CALL the Marriott Center ticket office and purchase them over the phone, OR you can buy ONLINE at BYUtickets.com. You can look at the specific schedule of events by going to www.byunationals.com , and click on the link that says Tickets and Schedule. Click where is says 2009 Schedule of Events.

This is an AMAZING opportunity for the dancers to be able to see serious competitive ballroom dancing with some of the best dancers in the world at a VERY reasonable cost. The listed prices are good for the entire day. They will stamp you and you can come and go as you please. I would recommend attending as much as you have time for, but Saturday evening in particular is a DO NOT MISS! I would recommend getting there in plenty of time because the best seats get packed, as well as parking.

Carpool with classmates and make a fun day our of it! I will be sitting at the table seats on the floor both Friday evening and Saturday, so feel free to come chat with me and tell me what you think!

I would also recommend wearing at least "dressy casual". Ballroom is a very different crowd!! I would love to see many of you competing at this competition next year, so please come see what it is all about!!

Note there are no "extra" rehearsals for any of the Ogden companies as it is during class time on Mondays. Costume fee of $50 needs to be paid as soon as possible so we can get them ordered and here in May. Please check your tights too!!!
